Have you run out of cash in your wallet and left your employee card or ISIC at home? No matter, in FreshUPs it is now possible to pay for spending with a credit card, mobile phone or watch. Payment terminals have been introduced in all of its bistros (PřF, PdF, PF, FF, FF tř. Svobody, Holice) to sell all products. However, remember that the student discount on selected products (e.g. sandwiches or salads) is only valid when paying with ISIC.

Going above and beyond the call of duty to do something for others and to give our free time and energy to improve the world around us is not a given. But without volunteers, many services, events and organisations could hardly function. That is why the University places great emphasis on volunteering and supports it by announcing the annual competition for the Rector's Award for volunteers from among students, alumni and staff of Palacký University (in Czech). You can nominate your favourite volunteer until 31 August via this form (in Czech).

EDUCATION

Thanks to UP's membership in the Aurora network, you can enrol online in courses from other European universities. The University of Iceland is currently offering a trio of courses, the deadline for registration is 5 August. Details and registration for the courses can be found on the Aurora website.

Drop your inhibitions and take your studies to the next level! As part of the Seizmic project, study for a PhD at several partner universities abroad. Applications are open to both those who have already completed their Master's degree and those who are yet to complete it. More information can be found here.

Competition: guess how many titles are in the UP Publishing House's warehouses

The Bookshop at the Armoury/Zbrojnice is closed during the week of 22-26 July. The traditional semi-annual inventory is taking place there and the UP Press is counting all the books that can be found both on the shelves of the bookstore and in the warehouses in the underground of the Armoury. And this is the perfect opportunity for a quick competition! Guess how many book titles that have a stock of at least 1 copy are in the UP Press warehouses. You can send your guesses to vydavatelstvi@upol.cz by July 29. The three closest guesses will receive a bag of books from VUP, perfect for summer intellectual reading (in Czech).
