At the management meeting on Wednesday, 23 October, the upcoming online cyber security training and work rules were discussed. The UP AGM approved the Bachelor's degree programmes in Religion with a focus on Education and Industrial Technology and Materials. The My AMBULANCE GP surgery located in the J. L. Fischer College (Block B, separate entrance from the outside) is extending its surgery hours from 1 November. It will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every weekday. Students can also use the dentist and gynaecologist's office or the massage studio at the J. L. Fischer College (Šmeralova 10). Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive a housing scholarship from the university. You just need to meet a few criteria, but most importantly, you need to apply for it by 30 November with a few clicks in Stag under Study and Teaching > My Study > My Details. If you are awarded, you can look forward to receiving CZK 2,550 three times a year. Applications can be made from 1 October to 30 November 2024.

If you want to find out whether your thesis, professional article or sports performance is worthy of further appreciation, submit it to the competition for the UP Rector's Award. You can do so until 6 November. The winners will receive a diploma from the hands of Rector Martin Procházka and a financial reward. INVITATIONS

UP will commemorate this year's anniversary of 35 years since the Velvet Revolution with several events, including the participation of members of the former student strike committee, and part of the programme will also take place in cooperation with the city of Olomouc. In the premises of the Faculty of Philosophy in Křížkovského Street, panels with photographs and information about the Velvet Revolution of 1989 at UP will be placed throughout the week before the 17 November holiday. On Sunday afternoon, a festive launch of the book My Friend Josef Jařab is planned in the faculty auditorium, in which friends of the first post-revolutionary rector of UP remember this unique personality. There will also be a screening of documents depicting the Olomouc Revolution.

In the early evening, families with children in particular can enjoy a lantern procession, which will march accompanied by the Olomouc Military Music from the Square of the Republic to the building of the UP Faculty of Law. At exactly 5 p.m. and 11 minutes, the commemoration will begin at the monument to the fighters for freedom and democracy in front of the Faculty of Law, the former seat of the Communist Party. One of the most prominent Olomouc figures of the November Revolution and post-revolutionary events, Josef Jařab, will also be commemorated a day earlier by unveiling a sculpture with his likeness by Olomouc artist Radomír Surma.

The launch of the publication LS 30: Looking Back at 3 Decades of the UP Student Literary Competition (in Czech) will take place on Monday 11 November at 8 pm at the Jazz Tibet Club in Olomouc. The almanac published by the UP Publishing House contains an insight into the history of the competition, whose birth in 1993 was due to the first post-Soviet rector of UP, Professor Josef Jařab, and a selection of poetry by the award-winning authors and poet Radek Malý. The event will include an author reading and musical accompaniment by Jan Žamboch and his Wolf Lost in the Poem. The event takes place as part of a festival of student creativity FFest (in Czech). Admission is free.

The brand new FFest (in Czech) will take place from 8 to 17 November 2024. You can look forward to a revival of the iconic student film competition; slam poetry featuring "our" national award-winning stars; a literary influencer and influencer who are second to none; prose and poetry readings by students and successful alumni; girl power in literature; a book swap with ecological overlays; a senior and advanced workshop; a vote for the best film for the 17th November anniversary; and a free screening at the Metropole. The second edition of Olomouc Design Days (in Czech) is in sight. November in Olomouc will clearly belong to all lovers of modern design and trends in the creative industries, fans of original ideas and solutions, and enthusiasts for creating original products. Almost a hundred points in the programme await us, which attracts not only exhibitions and presentations of local creators, exhibitions or discussions, but also a number of workshops and events for the whole family. The university programme can be found on a special website (in Czech).

On Saturday, November 2, the Akademik sport centre of UP will organize the Rabštejnský kocour (in Czech) mountain race. Participants will run almost 14 kilometres from Libina to Velký Rabštejn. You can register online and on the spot, more at www.rabstejnskykocour.cz.

ASC UP also invites volleyball enthusiasts to the 63rd International Mixed Team Volleyball Tournament (in Czech). It will take place on November 13 in the UP Sports Hall.

The Faculty of Law invites you to a composite programme Million Ideas. The main guest will be Professor Jindřich Štreit, one of the most famous Czech documentary photographers. The programme will take place on the occasion of the exhibition of photographs Law and Us, which will be installed at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Applied Sciences in November. Jindřich Štreit will present his photographs, and songs by Stanislav Hyrák will be performed, accompanied by Vojtěch Szabó on the accordion. A discussion will follow. The programme will take place on Monday 11 November at 16:00 at the PF UP in Small Hall 1. Admission to the event is free, advance reservation is required.

NEW STANDARDS

• Timetable for the academic year 2024/2025 and the timetable for enrolment of courses in IS STAG in the academic year 2024/2025 - Amendment No. 2
  This amendment to the UP internal standard, effective from 25 October 2024, (in Czech)is intended primarily for UP students, academic staff and other UP employees. It changes some dates of course registration in connection with the reconstruction at the Faculty of Education of UP.

   

• UP Library Regulations - Amendment No. 2 
  This amendment to the UP internal standard, effective October 30, 2024, (in Czech) is addressed to all UP employees and students and amends the UP Library Fee Schedule and Paid Services.
  
  All UP standards, including the ineffective ones, divided by UP units, with the possibility of filtering and searching in them can be found by students and employees of UP after logging in to files.upol.cz.
