Dear students,

there's only one more newsletter to come and it's Christmas. We are pleased that we have managed, despite various measures and concessions, to keep the classes mostly full-time throughout this semester. To encourage vaccination among students and staff, we have arranged for vaccinations to be administered directly at UP. See below for details as well as other news from the university world, including some tips for Christmas gifts.

Vaccinations in the Rector's office
We want to contribute to the control of the pandemic not only by being responsible and considerate to ourselves and others, but also by promoting vaccination. For all those who are thinking about getting vaccinated, whether with the first, second or third dose, we have prepared a vaccination in the Rector's office on 13, 14 and 20 December at UP. Two doctors from the University Hospital Olomouc, namely the Rector Martin Procházka and the Vice-Rector for Communication and Student Affairs Vít Procházka, were in charge of the professional supervision. Just book the date and time in our booking form and then just come with your ID and Czech health insurance card. We look forward to seeing you, details can be found on kcoronaweb.

Changes in the positions of Bursar and Chancellor
Palacký University was looking for two top officials at the end of the year: it announced a selection procedure for Bursar and Chancellor. After the approval of the UP Academic Senate at the end of November, Mgr. Petra Jungová, LL.M., formerly head of the Public Tender Office, became the new Bursar. She replaced Ing. Jiří Přidal, who resigned for personal and health reasons. As of 1 January, the position of Chancellor will be newly filled after PhDr. Rostislav Hladký, MBA, by Mgr. Bc. Martin Tomášek, who has been working in the legal department of the Rector's Office.

Help us keep the dorms safe
The UP Accommodation and Dining Facilities strives to make students feel safe on their dormitories. However, sometimes, despite various precautions, strangers and uninvited visitors may enter the dormitory area. In such cases, the receptionists can call a security officer; in addition, some dorms already have an ISIC card access system. SKM is therefore planning to introduce it in other dormitories at Envelopa to improve security. Nevertheless, please: if you find someone in the dormitories who is not supposed to be there, inform the relevant reception immediately so that the receptionists can deal with the situation. You can read more here.

The canteen in Holice is temporarily closed
As of Wednesday, December 8, the Holice canteen is closed until further notice for staffing reasons. Meals already ordered will be cancelled and money refunded to diners' cards. Refreshments are still available at FreshUP in the newly renovated Building 47. Keep an eye on the UP Accommodation and Dining Facilities website for updates and Christmas opening times.

New issue of the Strategy and Quality Office newsletter
Once you have finished reading this newsletter and have written down all the interesting events, take a look at the last issue of the UP Strategy and Quality Office newsletter of this year. You will find there essential things that concern the whole university - for example, what will happen at UP next year, which is summarised in the UP Strategic Plan Implementation Plan for 2022. The theme of the issue is external relations and strategic cooperation with the Statutory City of Olomouc. And do you have any idea what percentage of all applications to universities in the Czech Republic are directed to UP? You can check your guess on the twelfth page of the newsletter.

Do you know any foreign graduates of UP? Send them a questionnaire

If you know any foreign graduates studying in the Czech Republic, please tell them about this questionnaire. It can be completed by 31 December, and the results will help to improve and deepen the relationship between foreign graduates and the Czech Republic as part of the national Czech Republic Alumni programme.
