Buddhism in North Korea and Its Meaning

24. February 2025, 16:45–18:00

Lecture

You are cordially invited to a lecture on "Buddhism in North Korea and Its Meaning" that will be given by Dr. Roman Husarski of Jagiellonian University.

North Korea is considered one of the most anti-religious states in the world. However, from 1970s the rise of activities of various religious groups can be observed. This lecture uses the broader context of changing DPRK religious policies to present Buddhism and its place in modern North Korea. While seemingly peripheral, Buddhism still has relevance at state as well as social levels in the country.
