Leaving the country

Students who have completed their studies and plan to depart the country, holding a long-term residence permit for educational purposes (or other designated reasons), are required to fulfil certain concluding responsibilities in order to leave the Czech Republic. Additionally, adhering to these obligations is advised if a graduate student intends to visit the European Union territory at a later time.

Furthermore, it is advisable to review the obligations related to the settlement of the municipal waste management fee. Comprehensive details regarding these matters are outlined in the Accommodation and Livelihood section.

Receival of Departure Order

We strongly advise all students who are planning to leave the country to hand in their long-term residence permit for the designated purposes (long-term visa or Schengen visa cannot be exchanged) and obtain a departure order from the Department of Asylum and Migration Policy. To initiate the appointment for an application process for receiving the departure order, students must follow the steps listed below. If a student's residency document (whether it is a short-term or long-term visa, or a residence permit for specific purposes) has already expired, it is necessary to follow the outlined steps as well.

The departure order allows the holder to remain within the Czech Republic's territory solely for a duration essential for attending to urgent matters and facilitating departure from the region. The duration permitting the holder to stay in the Czech Republic must span a minimum of 30 days unless specified otherwise.

  1. Send an email to welcome@upol.cz requesting the receival of the departure order. Make sure to include your given and family names, date of birth, nationality, faculty, and attach a scanned copy or photo of your current residency document and passport.
  2. The Welcome Office will register your request at the MOI department for the receival of the departure order.
  3. After the departure order is prepared, the Welcome Office will contact you to inform you of the appointment date for receiving the document. The Welcome Office primarily communicates through the university email (e.g., frantisek.palacky01@upol).
  4. Attend the appointment and receive your departure order.

When a student plans to leave the country via air travel using a departure order, the journey must adhere to the particular conditions outlined by the Ministry of Interior, as specified on their official website.

Sustainability (Free Shop)

Should a student decide to get rid of equipment or belongings that no longer fulfill a purpose in their lives, they are presented with the opportunity to contribute these items to the Free Shop. The Free Shop, a unique service provided within the institution, operates as a centralized hub where students can altruistically donate an array of equipment and clothing. These contributions, generously made by fellow students, form a pool of resources that are subsequently made accessible to other members of the student body. This initiative highlights the institution's commitment to resource-sharing and responsible consumption, showcasing its ethos of sustainability and compassion.
